Troop 670 Committee

The Troop 670 Committee is a dedicated group of adult volunteers who work behind the scenes to ensure the smooth operation of the troop. The committee handles administration, logistics, fundraising, and event planning to support the Scoutmaster and provide the best possible experience for our Scouts. Below is an overview of our current Troop Committee members and their responsibilities, as well as some available leadership roles for parents and volunteers who would like to get more involved.


Committee Leadership Tree

Mrs. Susan Green

Committee Chair

  • Oversees all Troop Committee operations.
  • Works closely with the Scoutmaster to ensure troop policies are followed.
  • Coordinates committee meetings and manages long-term planning for the troop.
  • Acts as the main liaison between the troop and the Moraine Trails Council.

Mr. John Davis

Treasurer

  • Manages all troop finances, including budgeting, tracking income and expenses, and collecting dues.
  • Ensures fundraising proceeds are properly allocated.
  • Provides financial reports during committee meetings and handles financial planning for major events.

Mrs. Emily Smith

Advancement Coordinator

  • Tracks Scout advancements, merit badge completions, and rank progress.
  • Works with the Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmasters to organize Courts of Honor.
  • Maintains accurate records in Scoutbook and ensures Scouts are progressing through their ranks.

Mr. Peter Wilson

Fundraising Coordinator

  • Organizes troop fundraising events, such as popcorn sales and car washes.
  • Ensures that Scouts and their families are involved in fundraising efforts.
  • Manages logistics for fundraising activities and ensures funds are properly allocated.

Mrs. Jessica Moore

Outdoor Activities Coordinator

  • Works with the Assistant Scoutmaster for Camping to plan and organize camping trips, hikes, and outdoor activities.
  • Manages logistics such as permits, transportation, and meal planning for outdoor events.
  • Ensures that all activities are aligned with BSA safety protocols and guidelines.

Mrs. Karen Edwards

Training Coordinator

  • Ensures that all adult leaders and volunteers are up to date on Youth Protection Training and other required certifications.
  • Coordinates opportunities for leader training, such as Wood Badge for adults and National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) for Scouts.
  • Tracks and promotes leadership development opportunities for youth and adults.

Mr. Bob Mason

Membership Coordinator

  • Manages troop membership records and registration for new Scouts and adult volunteers.
  • Ensures all members are properly registered with BSA and handles rechartering each year.
  • Works closely with the Recruitment Coordinator to onboard new Scouts and their families.

Vacant Leadership Positions: Join the Committee

We’re always looking for more adult volunteers to join the committee and contribute to the success of Troop 670. Below are some open positions that we hope to fill. Volunteering is a rewarding way to stay involved in your Scout’s experience and contribute to the troop.


Service Project Coordinator (Vacant)

  • Responsibilities:
    • Organizes and manages troop service projects in the community.
    • Works with Scouts to plan and execute Eagle Scout projects.
    • Coordinates with local organizations, parks, schools, and charities to identify opportunities for community service.

Communications Coordinator (Vacant)

  • Responsibilities:
    • Manages troop communications, including monthly newsletters, emails, and social media updates.
    • Ensures that parents and Scouts are informed about upcoming events, meetings, and important announcements.
    • Keeps the troop website up to date with photos, event information, and news.

Troop Quartermaster (Adult Support) (Vacant)

  • Responsibilities:
    • Works with the youth Quartermasters to oversee the maintenance and organization of troop equipment.
    • Ensures all camping gear, cooking supplies, and tents are stored properly and are ready for use on outings.
    • Tracks troop inventory and coordinates repairs or purchases of new equipment.

Recruitment Coordinator (Vacant)

  • Responsibilities:
    • Leads recruitment efforts to bring new Scouts into the troop.
    • Organizes “Join Scouting” events, open houses, and community outreach programs.
    • Works closely with the Membership Coordinator to welcome new families and help them integrate into the troop.

Merit Badge Coordinator (Vacant)

  • Responsibilities:
    • Organizes merit badge workshops and ensures merit badge counselors are available for Scouts working on specific badges.
    • Tracks merit badge completions and helps Scouts find opportunities to work on required badges for rank advancement.
    • Coordinates with local experts and volunteers to offer specialized merit badge opportunities.
