Troop 6670/670 Announcements 9/28/24

Greetings Troops 6670/670!!!

Sunday Sept 29 – Troop meeting at 6:30. Amy will do a Collections merit badge. Please prepare by gathering up your collection you may have and present to the Troop. We will discuss next weekend’s Fall Camporee. Scouts and leaders planning on attending all day Saturday, we are asking for $10 per person for food that will be prepared by the Scouts. Mr. Porrett will take care of the leaders.

Pizza Hoagie Orders are due Sunday Sept 29. You can use the attached form for your totals.

Monday Sept 30 at 6:30 – For those interested in being part of the Camp Committee in regards to The Ford City Sportsmen’s Club (FCSC) 40yr old scout camp, please attend a meeting at the church. Fall Camporee will be at Camp Bucoco October 4-6. We have reserved the Delaware campsite for the Troops. For those attending please remember to bring your Class A for a dedication of the new McCutchen Center.

Sunday Oct 6 at 6:00 – Meeting for the members of the Patrols Leaders Council (PLC). The PLC consists of the Senior Patrol Leaders, the Assistant Senior Patrol Leaders, the Patrol Leaders and the Troop guide and Scribe. We will discuss the remaining month’s meetings and potential camping/field trips. NO TROOP Meeting!!

Thursday Oct 10 – Anyone needing service hours, here is an opportunity that was forwarded from the DeMatteo family.

“Hello! I wanted to make a quick post to see if anyone is looking for community service hours or volunteer time (doesn’t have to be yourself it could be your child I would say no younger than 13) Our fire department (Dayton Volunteer Fire Department) host a supper twice a year (one in the spring and one in the fall) the proceeds go back to the fire department The date of the supper is October 10th, the time you would need to be there is 4:15-4:30. If anyone is interested in helping please reach out to me and I would be happy to give you more information It’s a very busy dinner, we serve between 550-600 people in about an hour/hour and a half”

October 27 – Halloween party hosted by Allison Kamis

Nov 3 – ALL CHARTER MONEY is due Sunday NOVEMBER 3RD, 2024 with NO EXCEPTIONS!!! If you are not paid by Sunday November 3rd you will not be chartered. ALL CLEARANCES NEED COMPLETED BY NOVEMBER 3rd as well.

Nov 16 or 17 – Troop backpacking hike at Phillipston entrance of the Armstrong Trails. We can hike to the soon to open train tunnel and hike to some other landmarks along the trail. We have the option to hike between 3 miles and 10 miles.

Monday December 9 – Meeting to invite parents of all new AOL Scouts crossing over to the Troop in 2025. We will take a Troop meeting in February to welcome the new AOLs and get them familiar with the differences between the Pack and Troop.

If anyone is interested in a Troop Trip, please feel free to discuss with your leaders.

If your Scout isn’t receiving these emails and would like to be placed in the group, please let me know and they will be added.

Effective August 1, 2024, the BSA will implement the following national membership fees which were approved by the National Executive Committee:

• $100/yr. for Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, Venturing and Sea Scouting participants +$38 council fee if you do not sell $125 of popcorn

• $85/yr. for all adult volunteers

  • ALL CLEARANCES NEED COMPLETED BY NOVEMBER 3rd AS WELL! Anyone without completed clearances or payment by this date will be dropped. This is a BSA rule, not an “us” rule!

Our Troop dues will increase to $10 monthly from Oct-May.

It’s never too early to start thinking about Summer Camp 2025 and where we want to go.
